 Sun Safety for Dogs: Why You Should Avoid the Hottest Hours of the Day ☀️🐶

When the sun is blazing, it's not just humans who feel the heat — our furry friends do too! Here’s why you should be extra cautious during hot days:

  • 🌡️ Dogs Overheat Quickly Dogs don't sweat like we do. They cool down mainly by panting, which isn’t very efficient in extreme heat.

  • 🐾 Paw Pad Burns Pavement, sand, and even artificial grass can become scorching hot. If it's too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

  • ☀️ Risk of Heatstroke Heatstroke is a serious emergency. Symptoms include heavy panting, drooling, vomiting, confusion, or collapse. It can happen faster than you think.

  • 🐕‍🦺 Flat-Faced Breeds at Higher Risk Breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boxers are more prone to heat exhaustion due to their short snouts.

  • 🚫 Avoid Walks Between 11 AM – 4 PM These are typically the hottest hours. Aim for early morning or late evening walks instead.

  • 🏡 Provide Shade and Water Always ensure your dog has access to cool, shaded areas and plenty of fresh water when outdoors carry water & bowl.

  • 💧 Never Leave Dogs in Parked Cars Even with windows are down , temperatures are doublein a car & can rise to dangerous levels in minutes.

  • 🧴 Yes, Dogs Can Get Sunburned! Light-colored or short-haired dogs are especially at risk. Use pet-safe sunscreen if needed.
