Lets Talk- Dogs Easter Dangers Daffodils & Chocolate Toxic To Dogs Mar-Apr !

Updated: Feb 15

Happy Easter Everyone

Easter is a lovely time of year, but it also brings hidden dangers for our dogs and puppies.

Two of the biggest risks at Easter are chocolate and daffodils.

Chocolate and Dogs

Chocolate is highly toxic to dogs.

Always store Easter eggs, chocolate treats and gifts in locked cupboards or well out of reach. Dogs have a strong sense of smell and will easily sniff out chocolate, even when wrapped.

If eaten, chocolate can cause serious illness and may require urgent veterinary treatment. In severe cases, it can be fatal.

Daffodils and Dogs

Daffodils are also highly toxic to dogs, especially the bulbs.

If ingested, they can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, drooling and serious illness. Puppies are particularly at risk as they are more likely to chew and explore.

As a dog groomer and home boarder, I do not keep toxic plants in my garden. If you have daffodils at home, consider removing them or ensuring they are completely out of reach. Never leave your dog or puppy unattended near these flowers.
